Real-Time Clock

The project in question included an interrupt-driven real-time clock. We derived a 60 Hz interrupt from the AC input, then used that to drive a series of software counters. When we read the time from the clock variables we'd read it a second time and compare; if the results were different we'd throw the first one away and read again.

The situation being what it was, we decided to move back to Pennsylvania. Blanche transferred to the local office of her job, which was in Blue Bell. A few months later I found a job in Spring House at a 50-year-old family-owned business called Moore Products Co., which was in the industrial process control business. I was hired into EID (Electronics Instruments Division), the small systems division.

While I do a lot of programming, saying “software engineer” isn't just a fancy way of saying “programmer”. There's a lot more to it.
